2014 UNDER REVIEW: The Departed In Entertainment

It is appropriate to open this article by paying tribute to the falling heroes and heroine of 2014. A minute silence will be observed.

GFI is going to review 2014 in a series of articles from a film perspective like never before than on any given platform. In the end GFI (GhanaFilmIndustry.com) will bring to shine our film personality for 2014.

KOMLA DUMOR

The nation came down to it kneels when the death of Komla Dumor came to light. So hard to accept but there was no reason to doubt either; he died on 18 January 2014 in his London home.

ERIC ASANTE
No Limit Productions, a company that produced movies such as Lil Win in Belgium. He acted in movies such as Ohia Asoma Wo, Dangerous Mission, Evil Heart and many others. His death occurred in 5th December, 2013. [it was included because of the proximity to 2014]

RICHARD KWAME AGYEMANG (ODOMPO)

His fame from the Obra days was still with him. He is easily recognizable by the young and old, the touch bearers of acting on television, the kings of Akan drama.

IRENE ASANTE

Host of GTV’s Movie Chatroom, she died 15th May, 2014. She paid exclusive attention to films.

CASTRO- THEOPHILUS TAGOE
Though some have not yet come to terms fully that he is no more with us. Despite the intensive search no sign of him hence his inclusion in the list. May the forces be with him wherever he is. The Jet ski incidence occurred on July 6.

KOFI ANSAH

The award-winning Ghanaian fashion designer, who was a pioneer in promoting modern African styles and design on the international stage, he died on 3 May 2014.

IBRAHIM SIMA
Exopa, he brought shine to the fashion industry in Ghana and added more meaning to modeling.  His death was announced in the first week of December.

MAJID & KYIEWAA

The mothers of Majid Michel and Rose Mensah (Kyiewaa) left us this year.
The local proverb tells us, the ladder of death is not climbed by a single person; a cold reminder of the journey ahead of us. I sign out with this poem.

I shall pass through this way but once
Any good thing that I can do or
Any kindness that I could show to any human being
Let me do it now
Let me not neglect it nor defer it
For I shall not pass through this way again

So long, brethren
