FILM REVIEW: PRINCE OF TAMALE (2014)

The life of the Prince (Elikem Kumodzi) was thrown out of balance when on his birthday two women simultaneously introduce to him as his future wife. Amid this chaos and confusion the Prince set to the city for an adventure and to acquire more insight on how to govern well should he be king someday and to make sense of the situation.

In his journey he had a crash on no other than Lamisi played by Jackie Appiah; a roadside paint artist who paints mockery portrait of leading figures of society. Sad for the Prince Lamisi had a boy lover who she cherishes and is never ready to let go at any price.

The Prince father, Kofi Adjololo a tight fisted king imposed his authority on all and dares anyone who questions his decisions. He had secrets he was keeping. A secret which when known could split a kingdom and only known by a former maid (Rita Nash) Okawa Shaznay was about to be made know.

Rita Nash aspires to be the princess of Tamale and in her hands was this secret of the kingdom; deep, dirty and dark enough to bring down the kingdom.

The secret was chronicled in a book for which the Prince read. There the Prince found answers to the questions that has continue to torture his mind and had forced him to leave the comfort of his palace. He retraces his footsteps backwards to his lineage and mended the broken parts; bringing to an end the secret that has fuel division in the kingdom.

In the end everyone had a fair share of what he planted, the bad got punished and the good got rewarded. For this film from the camp of Venus Film, be rest assured it actually ended no need to expect Book II or Chapter II, thank God for that.

Walking out of here with a smile, cee you on the next review
