If you observe the achievement of the DumsorMustStop movement,
in what words can they be glorified than from the eternal poem of Alfred Lord
Tennyson’s “Charge of the Light Brigade”.
The poem is on the bravery showed by six hundred soldiers in
the face of death as they rode through the Valley of Death. See how the build
up to the vigil flows with the “Charge of the Light Brigade”.
The movement started with an outburst on social media from Yvonne
Nelson that DumsorMustStop with the desire to rally the crowds.
Half a league, half a
league,
Half a league onward,
[…]“Forward,
the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns!”
he said. [ …]
Then came some celebrities and traditional authourity to
stymie the movement and discourage people from joining the DumsorMustStop
movement but they were ignored.
“Forward, the Light
Brigade!”
Was there a man
dismayed?
[…] Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason
why,
Theirs but to do and
die.
Into the valley of
Death
Rode the six
hundred.[…]
Hard line politicians traded dirty words of war on the stars
calling names like prostitutes, brothel and burn their movies and music.
Cannon to right of
them,
Cannon to left of
them,
Cannon in front of
them
Volleyed and thundered;
Stormed at with shot
and shell,
Boldly they rode and
well,
Into the jaws of
Death,
Into the mouth of
hell
Rode the six hundred.
As though their predicament was about to end, then came the
confusion for the starting line for the vigil, the movement was pushed to and
fro but they stood their ground.
[…]They
that had fought so well
Came through the jaws
of Death,
Back from the mouth
of hell,
All that was left of
them,
Left of six
hundred.[…]
In the end the DumsorMustStop vigil came on and was hail by
all as successful. How do you think history will remember this vigil? I leave
that to Alfred Lord Tennyson as I sign out.
When can their glory
fade?
O the wild charge
they made!
All the world
wondered.
Honour the charge
they made!
Honour the Light
Brigade,
Noble six hundred!
