She died on September 8, 2005, in
a car crash, on the Accra-La road. There is foundation established in her
honour- The Suzzy Williams Memorial Fund to aid victims of road traffic
accidents.
In the annals of Ghana films she
is the first to be counted to have died in her prime and at the peak of her
career.
The way she played her roles made
her to resonate with many Ghanaian, she was their darling girl. She won the
heart of so many. With easy she tweaks wiggles and chews and burst gum was
enough to set men on fire, she was simply a bad ass.
She could snatch a husband off
another with grace and easy and does so with so much agility.
A crony told me of Suzzy on how
she visited the market centers and busy streets to observe people natural behavior.
She goes back home and practice all that she had observed.
Little wonder stardom came to her
quick. She was the toast of her generation.
GFI not only looks at our stars
in their days of fame and glamour but a look back and playback of those moments
and time when they were screen goddess.
It wasn’t that the films Suzzy
featured in became an all time best film but how she played her roles in films
made her to stand out and also whet the appetite to demand more of her.
Suzy Williams long gone, but not
forgot in the annals of Ghana films.
