GOSSIPS FROM GHANA FILM INDUSTRY

GOSSIP #1

An aspiring actress was asked to pay GHc500.00 before getting a role. She paid but was told she is responsible for her welfare whiles on location.  After the movie was done the aspiring actress asked for an amount of money she was promised. The director responded he has no money for her but can give her some of the movies to sell for her money. The authority has picked up the matter; can they apply the sanction whip?

GOSSIP #2

The Nigerian president has created a fund for Nollywood film-makers to tap in. This will make Nigeria movies to compete in the US and be shown in theatres. What is Ghana doing?

GOSSIP #3

There is a bill making rounds which when pass will be the law regulating the Ghana Film Industry. This bill has been to many places, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Culture and Ministry of Tourism Culture and Creative Arts. It reminds me of Bob Dylan’s song “Blowing in the Wind”- How many miles must a man walk before you call him a man.

GOSSIP #4

You must have heard of Hollywood, Bollywood, Nollywood, Ghallywood and Ghollywood but I guess not Kofwood.  Koforidua is building a film base and has chosen to call it Kofwood.  The next time someone can start building a film base from a garage, can’t think of a name for it, Garagewood will be an apt.
