Ghana Film Stars Go Silent on Ramadan

Jump onto Facebook, twitter and other known social media hang out, you wouldn’t miss a smiling message flouting from a star in film, music, sport and on.

Not long, we all got infected with the World Cup virus. Countless messages of hope, dream, and determination poured out from our stars.  It only stopped when the beloved Black Stars exited.

Virtually any landmark event in Ghana especially and perhaps globally attracts a message from a star to the fans. So far the incident that has attracted the most comments this year was the passing away on Komla Dumor.

At the onset of Ramadan, it was naturally expected of similar comments and messages to fasting brethren and fans. Yet nothing of that sort materialized per GFI surveillance on social networks. Or there was but perhaps GFI miss the bus- apologies to Chris-Cross. (They have a song titled I Miss the Bus)

Since this is a movie platform, our discussion has been limited to film stars. Extend the logic to broadcasting houses and you can only minus out Metro TV.

It is only anticipated, if the Eid celebration slams in, there will be a change of heart of our film stars with good will messages to climax the celebration. If it does not, the best that can be done is to sit in a rocking chair with a bowl of rice, chicken wing, a bottle of fanta close-by and smile at the world: Peace-salaam.
